In this concept my focus was more on its aesthetics, even though ergonomic and other important things are also considered. I was imagining how it's gonna stand in the kitchen. When it is not used (the pestle isnt turned over), it will stand on the kitchen shelf more likely as a sculpture. It's not like the way a normal mortar-and-pestle looks like.
P.S. If you can't read my yucky handwriting (so sorry!), don't hesitate to ask :)
Feedback would be awesome :D
ciao!
THis has merits too. Looking at your sketch though, it seems such a massive thing in the kitchen bench. I dont know about you, but we use the mortar and pestle only occasionally. Ask around what people use it for and how frequent. Many people try to keep their kitchen benches free of clutter, and therefore tools which are rarely used tend to be put in the kitchen drawer or cabinet. Because this is heavy and bulky moving it elsewhere and getting it out of storage doesnt seem pleasurable! Also, do you wash your mortar and pestle? If it's big and heavy then it can become displeasurable to clean? Try to gain a good understanding of how most people use their mortar-and-pestle, how often, how they clean, store etc.
